Urban Art

This was my idea for a magazine cover.  It is a quarterly publication which deals with topics relating to urban areas.  For this quarter, the focus was on art, art which involved kids and interested those people who had kids.

Beach

This was an exercise on using text as a clipping mask.

No need for Botox!

These photographs were enhanced to give the subject brighter teeth, less wrinkles, and overall a better look.

Run, Bronco, Run!

This is a composition exercise manipulating depth of field using layer mask and the blending mode command.  The most important part of this exercise is naturally integrating the clouds and the moon in the background.  You see the clouds are not on top of the moon or the moon on top of the clouds, but rather the clouds envelope the moon.  This making it look more natural.

The art of painting using photoshop.

This was an in class exercise in using the paint tool command.  The first step was selecting a photographed picture of a bird.  Then using the paint tool, brush strokes were created which resulted in this softened image.

King Triton

This is a surreal design composition using the pen tool.  The images which were imported were the image of my husband sitting on a throne, King Triton's spear and crown, the rock with the starfish, and the octupus.  Once the octopus was imported adjustments were made in color and hue to add a more playful color to the scene.

A Play on Topography

"My Nose" design is a composition of a sneezing girl and a light hearted poem written by Dorothy Aldis.  The text was manipulated to illustrate the effect of movement when the girl sneezed.

The "Chief Executive" design was an exercise in creating and formatting text.

Spring is in the Air!

The objective of this design is to create a composition incorporating a color scheme.  The split complimentary color scheme is  using the colors purple, orange, and yellow green.

Princess Ava

This is a picture of my daughter Ava.  On her fifth birthday we had a princess themed party.  I hired fairy princess who performed a magic show and offered face painting for the kids.

Young Jedi

This design was a composition of two images from two separate pictures.  A duotone finish was applied to complete the assignment.  The background is a picture from a hike my family took while in Hawaii.  The little boy is my oldest son.  You don't see it here, but the original photo is of him participating on stage at Disneyland to become a Jedi Knight.

Vlad III the Impaler

Before Vampires there was Vlad!
This design is to give an alternate view of the Hollywood story of vampires.  You see on the right hand corner all the actors in movies we have seen on the big screen, i.e. Tom Cruise in "Interview with the Vampire",  Bella Lugosi in "Dracula", Kiefer Sutherland in "Lost Boys", etc...On the main portion of the page is Vlad III, the Transylvania ruler of the 15th century who's life story is thought to be based on the story of "Dracula".
